During the semester break, our lecturer, Mr.Hilmy, hooked us up with Wan Hazmer who was one of the lead designer of Final Fantasy XV. We showed Wan Hazmer our "test build" and he gave a few important insights about our game.
He found that our game lacks "The X Factor" or "The Wow Factor" that applies a level of uncertainty into the game itself. He explained factors like a environment change, ability change or behavioural change, can let the player anticipate what is coming or shock them a bit.
He also stressed the importance of user story. He guided us on how to think about user story when designing the game because the game experience is the most important element for him and it is important to think on the player's perspective as they are the ones who we are selling to.
At that moment we have brainstormed a few ways to improve the gameplay experience or introduce a "Wow Factor". However, with the time constraints in mind we would keep them as "nice-to-have"s.
